Advanced Cardiovascliar Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS is an AHA certified instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics, high quality BLS, cardiac arrest, immediate post-cardiac-arrest care and treating various cardiac arrhythmias based on identification of EKG rhythms. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. This course can be taught to an individual student or students in large or small groups. In this course, megacode skills are tested by presenting various case-based scenarios to students and students must show adequate knowledge of ACLS care for patients and students must also pass a written exam at the end of course to successflily complete and receive an AHA ACLS provider card.

ACLS - Course Covers:

  • Systemic approach and assessment of conscious and unconscious patients using BLS and ACLS surveys.
  • High quality CPR with one and two-rescuers scenarios.
  • Use of Automated external defibrillation (AED).
  • Use of personal protective device and bag-valve mask ventilation techniques.
  • Airway management techniques using advanced airways.
  • Importance of team dynamic scenarios.
  • Cardiac arrest and various cardiac arrhythmia treatment algorithms.
  • EKG rhythm recognition and pharmacology treatment for various cardiac abnormalities.
  • Immediate post cardiac arrest patient care.
  • Identifying and initial treatment for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and stroke.

ACLS Pre-Course Self-Assessment

All ACLS students must take the ACLS pre-course self assessment exam prior to schedlied class and get minimum 70% on exam. They must bring a printed copy of this reslit to their schedlied class day.
